“Yellow Page” scammers

Here’s the scam…you get a call from Generic “Yellow Page” company.  They talk fast and tell you they have an outstanding invoice with your company.  They drop a name or two saying they have a contract and that it is about to go to collections unless you pay.  They send over the invoice and hope you just pay.  If you argue with them, they get feisty, tell you to calm down, stop yelling, and generally talk over you.  All in the hopes you’ll buckle and pay.

Last year, we got this call, it was for a very little amount and after some argument, the decision was made to pay them so they’d go away.

We got that call again.

It came to my AP, who very smartly told him no way, this is a scam and stop calling.  He called back, was told the same thing.  He called again and the call was sent to me.  I laughed and hung up.  He called again. At which point I told everyone of thy got the call it was to come to me.

I got that call again.

I laid into “Mr. Richard Walker” for calling and harassing my company.  He tried talking over me, but I only spoke louder and asked for his supervisor.  He tried all his scare tactics, to which I told him I had asked for his supervisor and by law he was suppose to transfer me.  More threatening me with legal action was met with requests to speak to his supervisor.

He hung up and I won.

We then received a fax with a “statement” of charges.  There was a phone number and address.  After a little research, it appear the address being used is not really theirs and the phone seems to be tied to Canada.  I spent about an hour reporting them to every agency I could think of and now I am putting their name here so the name, phone or address may get picked up and seen as a scam. If you are contacted by these people, do not give them any financial data and asked for the signed contract.  If threats ensue, keep asking for a supervisor until they get bored of you repeating it.

Update: I reported them to the BBB and they responded that they had “cleared our account”.  I replied we never had an account to begin with.  They replied with the same canned message and I closed the case.  Idiots

This company is a scam and it committing fraud.  Please be careful when dealing with these criminals.

9 Replies to ““Yellow Page” scammers”

  1. I went through the same phone calls from Mr. Richard Walker with the Pre-legal Department. My alleged invoice is 175 days over-due. They are turning me into a collection agency, credit will be affected etc. I linked Yellow National Directory to Dynamic Advertisement Inc. with the fake address of 1111 Lincoln Rd. Suite 400 Miami Beach, FL 33139 1-800-493-0487 or (786)863-8663.

  2. This was done with me too.

I've reported them to the Federal Trade Commission, Better Business Bureau, Attorney General in my state, National Fraud Center. I've even got a fake W-9 tax form which I forwarded to the IRS (I'm sure they are not reporting their take from these schemes) and finally to put icing on the cake, I contact the FL Department of Revenue and sent them the W-9. I've verified that this business is not listed in the FL Department of State and the FEIN on the W-9 is fake.

Even with this, Richard Walker still contacts me to this day and continues to fax over final notices before sending this to collections. I've instructed my staff to ask for supervisor and he usually hangs up.

Definitely keep your eyes out for these guys since they are relentless!

  3. I also received an invoice for over $800 and reported these people to the BBB. When the BBB contacted them, the scammers replied that my claims are unsubstantiated and they have a recording that one of my employees approve the listing. This is truly a scam and I have instructed my employees to not provide any information to anyone regarding our business over the phone. I also asked them to provide proof and they said that they don't have to. So obviously they don't have one.

  4. Does anyone know how to block a fax too? Randy Walker is calling me and sending me faxes with a invoice I never agreed to pay. I have reported them to the FTC already.
Thank goodness for call blocker on cell phones now! I block unknown numbers, and I can block any phone number I know of that is belonging to this major pain in the butt scammer.

  5. This was done with me too. In this case as of Feb 2013, this number is linked to Dynamic Ad Corp (DBA: Yellow National Directory) and the collection agent was Richard Walker.

I've reported them to the Federal Trade Commission, Better Business Bureau, Attorney General in my state, National Fraud Center. Dynamic Ad Corp and National Yellow Directory (NYD) is NOT listed under the Florida Department of State and if they give anyone an W-9 tax form so you can "write off your advertising expense", the Federal Employers Identification Number (FEIN) is fake and immediately report this to the IRS since I seriously doubt this outfit pays taxes on the monies they collect. NYD will only conduct business transactions by telephone and fax. They avoid the US mail or paper check as much as possible and they never use e-mail.

If anyone else runs into this situation (as much as it may not help right away), do report them at least to the FTC and BBB. Other resources include: your state, province or county attorney general, National Fraud Center, IRS and Florida Department of Revenue. Gather all faxes and paperwork received from NYD, make multiple copies and mail and/or scan/e-mail to these credit protection groups. Obviously, the most important thing is if NYD continues to call, ask for a supervisor and NEVER give out financial or personal information.

If anyone actually receives a summons to appear in a Florida court, go to http://www.flcourts.org/ or call (850) 922-5081 for assistance and verify the case is legit.

FINALLY SOME LIGHT….On 5/2/2013, I received a Consumer Affidavit from the Florida Office of Attorney General, Consumer Protection Division to which I completed. They have filed an investigation on this. If anyone who is interested, here is the contact information for you to file:

Office of the Attorney General, Consumer Protection Division, 444 Brickell Ave, Suite 650, Miami, FL 33131. Phone: (305) 377-5441 FAX: (305) 349-1403 E-Mail: mia.ec@myfloridalegal.com Website: http://www.myfloridalegal.com

I do need to disclose that as of 9/18/13, I have NOT seen an active case listed for either Dynamic Ad Corp or Yellow National Directory. Don't be discouraged by this, just keep filing those complaints.
